The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs are launching a new initiative to promote Ontario restaurants as well as the great
things that are grown and produced provincewide.
This year marks the 25th Annual Ontario Agriculture Week, providing us with an opportunity to celebrate our hardworking
farmers and food processors while supporting restaurants which are an important part of communities across the province.
From October 1-8 they will be running a promotion called Dine Ontario. To participate restaurants must feature a special made with Ontario food and where possible paired with an Ontario wine, cider, craft beer or spirit. This could include highlighting current menu items or a new feature for the week. Free resources will be provided should you decide to participate.

The opioid crisis in Canada has been a significant public health concern in recent years, with many individuals experiencing poisoning and substance use disorder. Ontario has been particularly affected, with high opioid-related deaths and hospitalization rates. The crisis has also had significant impacts on businesses in Ontario.
To help address these issues, the Ontario government introduced the Ontario Workplace Naloxone Program*. This program aims to provide businesses with the knowledge and tools needed to respond to opioid poisoning in the workplace.
Under the program, businesses can access free self-directed on-line naloxone training and kits to distribute to employees
Dear Members
The Board of Directors take pleasure in introducing Brenda Wilson as the new Executive Director .
Brenda has had a career that spanned many business sectors including retail, manufacturing, wholesale, and direct selling. Within these channels her team leadership skills were utilized in brand management, marketing (both traditional and social media), sales, product development, operations, and customer relationship management.
With an extensive background in providing people focused strategic direction she delivered award winning results in sales, marketing campaigns and product launches for brands such as Birks, Avon Canada, Laura Canada, Rubbermaid, and Zellers. Together with these companies funds were raised for Kids Help Phone, Canadian Cancer Society, Avon’s Breast Cancer Crusade and United Way.
Brenda loves to travel and has been to over 28 countries on five continents for work and pleasure. She is an avid reader (over 300 books last year!) and has taken that love of words and stories to the Hamilton Literacy Council as an adult tutor.
Brenda grew up in Stoney Creek and attended McMaster University. She is thrilled to be living once again in Stoney Creek and to be able to use her knowledge and experience to partner with, strengthen and advocate for the local business community.
We are confident that Brenda’s many talents and wide-ranging experience will help the Stoney Creek Chamber of Commerce to continue to serve the membership by building meaningful connections and fostering innovation and learning.
Please join me in wishing a heartfelt welcome to Brenda as she takes up her new role with us.
