The Voice of Our Members

As the voice of business serving the local business communities of East Hamilton, Stoney Creek, Upper Stoney Creek, Elfrida, Binbrook, and Winona the Stoney Creek Chamber of Commerce represents businesses of all sizes from all sectors.  Guided by our policies, the Chamber is a strong advocate for — and works to unite and serve — the best interests of the community and all citizens.

Would you like to propose a solution to a challenge your business has encountered at the municipal, provincial and/or federal level of government that the Stoney Creek Chamber of Commerce can champion with you?

Submit your challenge, in writing, to the Stoney Creek Chamber of Commerce Executive Director at execdir@chamberstoneycreek.com and let us advocate on your behalf to enact positive change with all levels of government. As the Stoney Creek Chamber works closely with the Ontario Chamber of Commerce and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, all actionable challenges will be forwarded to gain extra support whenever possible.

• Lead the development of the Chamber’s formal Strategic Plan for Board approval • Maintain current and compliant By-laws • Maintain an up-to-date Board Policies & Procedures Manual • Ensure the Board maintains the full complement of 11 Directors as required by the BOT Act • Ensure Directors receive ongoing governance training • Provide financial oversight

• Review policy resolutions presented annually at the AGMs of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce (CCC) and the Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) • Determine whether the Chamber will support existing resolutions or submit its own • Meet with local MPs • Meet with local MPP

Municipal Affairs Committee

• Engage with the four City Councillors representing Stoney Creek • Wards 5, 9, 10, and 11 • Engage with Hamilton Economic Development • Monitor City Council decisions that impact Stoney Creek businesses • Liaise with Hamilton Police Service as appropriate • Provide guidance to the Executive Director on municipal issues and potential correspondence

Member Engagment Committee

• Develop and recommend member acquisition strategy • Develop and recommend member retention strategy • Review results of the Annual Membership Survey and identify strategic priorities • Recommend enhancements to the referral program • Evaluate opportunities for affiliate partnerships with other Chambers • Evaluate and recommend affinity partner programs • Provide strategic guidance to the Executive Director on membership growth initiatives
